We will Launch a ZEB Demonstration Project in Cyberjaya, Malaysia — An Initiative Aiming to Achieve “Nearly ZEB” through the Retrofitting Existing Building —
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer: Osamu OMOTO; hereinafter “our company”) will serve as the lead company in an international demonstration project to be conducted in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, bringing together its technical expertise in the fields of architecture and building systems to spearhead the project.
This project is a collaboration between the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA: a Malaysian government agency responsible for sustainable energy development) to transform the SEDA headquarters building in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, into a Zero Energy Building (ZEB). This initiative involves retrofitting an existing building to achieve ZEB status. This project combines the energy-saving technologies and expertise of four Japanese companies—our company, AGC Inc., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, and Azbil Corporation—to achieve “Nearly ZEB” status, which entails reducing primary energy consumption by 75% or more.
Through this project, we aim to promote decarbonization in Malaysia's architecture sector and establish a leading model case with a view to expanding into the ASEAN region.
For further details on this project, please refer to the news releases from NEDO and the Malaysian Natioonal News agency (BERNAMA).
