"Yokohama Nishiguchi OPEN PARK" Will be Held as a Social Experiment to Turn the Central West Exit Square of Yokohama Station into a "Park".
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Address: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer: Osamu OMOTO) and Park Line Promotion Council (Address: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), a general incorporated association in which we participate, will be supporting the planning and operation of the Yokohama Nishiguchi OPEN PARK, a social experiment to turn the central west exit square of Yokohama Station into a park (improving foot traffic by creating a comfortable space) organized by Yokohama Nishiguchi Area Management (Address: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) for two days on Friday, May 23rd and Saturday, May 24th, 2025.
This social experiment is being carried out as part of the efforts to revitalize and create a lively atmosphere in the Yokohama West Exit area, which is being promoted by the Yokohama West Exit Area Management General Incorporated Association in conjunction with Yokohama City's policies, and as a contribution to building momentum for GREEN×EXPO2027 (the 2027 International Horticultural Expo), which is scheduled to be held in 2027. Through this social experiment, we will consider the possibility and ideal form of expanding the role of the station square from its previous role as a transportation hub to a hub for urban development.

In addition, on Saturday, May 24th, we will also be collaborating with the Yokohama Rose Festa 2025 (organized by Yokohama West Exit Area Management General Incorporated Association), which will be held using public spaces around the west exit of Yokohama Station (Minamisaiwai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, hereafter referred to as the Yokohama Station West Exit Area) and facilities at the east exit of Yokohama Station, with the aim of contributing to improving the mobility of the west exit and east exit areas of Yokohama Station.
Planning and operation cooperation by Park Line Promotion Council
The Park Line Promotion Council is an intermediary support organization whose goal is to promote sustainable improvement of local value through the utilization of public spaces that contribute to solving local issues.

In this social experiment, 100% recyclable artificial turf will be laid in the area, and furniture and power ports will be installed to create a comfortable space. In addition, we will work to create green infrastructure in the station square to encourage people to stay and feel comfortable. A live broadcast will be held in the station square from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, May 23rd, in collaboration with Marine FM.
We will continue to work in partnership with local communities and the public and private sectors to contribute to resolving social and regional issues and promote the creation of walkable towns that contribute to the sustainable improvement of regional value.
