About "SAGA Sunrise Park + Eiko Bridge + Saga City Cultural Center West Plaza"
This is an integrated development project of SAGA Sunrise Park, Eiko Bridge, Saga City - Cultural Center - West Plaza, and National Route 263, developed by Saga Prefecture and Saga City in preparation for the SAGA2024 National Sports and All-Away Sports held in Saga Prefecture in October 2024.
While preserving and utilizing the existing stadium and trees as much as possible, the newly constructed arena, indoor pool, cafes and shops are connected by a pedestrian deck and open space, and the Saga City - Cultural Hall, which is currently separated by the national highway, is connected by a new pedestrian bridge, "Eiko Bridge." By doing so, we aimed to safely guide the large amount of traffic from the arena and utilize the area as a whole.

Evaluation Points
Taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the SAGA2024 National Sports Festival and National Sports Festival for People with Disability, the prefecture and city came together to realize an integrated development that transcended many fields, including civil engineering, architecture, design and construction. In particular, the construction of the Eiko Bridge eliminated the division of traffic and made it possible to use the area as a wide area. The design of the bridge, the beauty of the night lighting, the use of the pedestrian deck, and the design control within the park have all been highly praised.
