A Survey of EV Bus Operation With an Eye towards Autonomous Driving will be Conducted in Sendai and Aobayama
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Osamu OMOTO) will be implementing the "Aobayama Green Excursion Project," which aims to demonstrate and implement a service that operates autonomous electric buses in the Aobayama area, as part of the cutting-edge service creation and regulatory reform promotion project of the "Sendai City x Tohoku University Smart Frontier Council"*.
As a preliminary survey for demonstration and implementation, an EV bus equipped with autonomous driving technology will be manually operated between Kokusai Center Station on the Tozai Subway Line and the ruins of Sendai Castle. Data on the surrounding environment necessary for autonomous driving will be collected and analyzed to identify technical issues, as well as to investigate the demands and needs of passengers.
During the survey period, the bus will be free to ride, and it will travel along the city road to the Sendai Castle Ruins, which is currently closed to general traffic, allowing you to quickly ascend to the ruins of Sendai Castle.
