Establishment of Tuesday Association Consulting Center
In January 1948, Tashira and other engineers, who had gathered together in despair over the devastated country after the war, received a letter from their best friend, Raymond. "I have a deep affection for Japan. I hear that Japan is currently in great trouble, but if there is anything we can do to help, we would love to help. Please let us know what you would like us to do and your situation." Tashiro and his friends then sent the following reply to Raymond: "As engineers, there are two things we must do for Japan right now. One is to develop electricity, as there is an extreme shortage of it, and the other is to increase coal production."
When Tashiro and his colleagues explained their plan to develop the Tadami River Dam to Raymond, who visited Japan in the fall of 1948, he was very supportive and recommended that a study and report by a respected American consulting engineer be conducted in order for the project to move forward. The following June, 1949, Raymond contacted us to inform us that Eric Flor of Westinghouse International would be visiting Japan.
Prior to Flor's arrival in Japan, Tashiro and others named the group organization for their external activities "Tuesday Association Consulting Center" on July 1, 1949. This Tuesday Association Consulting Center was established in Room 424 of the Shiraishi Foundation Headquarters in the Maru Building, and became the establishment of parent organization of what would later become PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD.
Raymond came to Japan with Flor in October 1949, and in early November he headed to the Tadami River to conduct a field survey together with Fukujiro HIRAYAMA, Muneki SHIRAISHI, Yayoizo FUKIHARA, and Yasuo KAWANO.
