PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer: Osamu OMOTO) is engaged in various efforts, including support for technology development, policy making, planning, and experimental study operation related to automated driving in various regions of Japan, in order to contribute to the social implementation of automated driving level 4, which is hoped for early realization as an important measure to address the lack of local transportation means and lack of personnel.

Sendai City is participating in the "Sendai City x Tohoku University Smart Frontier Council," which aims to implement cutting-edge services to solve social issues through PPP, and has planned and led the "Aobayama Green Excursion Project" since FY2023 (JPN), which aims to improve excursion in the Aobayama area through advanced services such as automated driving. Furthermore, in April 2024, we concluded a "Collaboration Agreement on Automated Driving Demonstration in Sendai City" with Sendai City, and are promoting an automated driving demonstration project in Sendai City.

In this fiscal year, we will conduct an automated driving level 2 EV bus operation experiment in the area between Kokusai Center Station on the Sendai Subway - Tozai Line and the ruins of Sendai Castle in the field of Aobayama, Sendai. We will further verify the technology, management, and social acceptability for future automated driving level 4 operation and demonstration, and also implementation.

During the experimental period, anyone can board the automated driving EV bus for free of charge and climb the ruins of Sendai Castle. Please take this opportunity to enjoy a tour around Aobayama while experiencing automated driving technology.
