PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Headquarters
: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Osamu OMOTO) has released a website called "Machi Shirube" that makes it easy to search for cities you'd like to live in on a map, leveraging our town development know-how *1.
When deciding to move to Tokyo for university, employment, or work transfer, many people probably struggle to find a city they want to live in.
Machishirube is an information service that helps people choose a city that matches their desired living environment by providing easy-to-understand information to anyone on important factors when looking for a city to live in in Tokyo, such as rent, nearest stations, convenience store locations, and public safety.
When selecting a city, we utilize big data such as data on approximately 600 stations in Tokyo, data on 20,000 km of roads, rent data on 120,000 meshes (120,000 area meshes divided into 100m squares), data on 12,000 stores, data on 100,000 public safety records, and disaster prediction data published by government agencies to help you choose a city that best suits your desired living environment.
We named it "Machishirube" with the idea of "getting to know the town" and "a guidepost for choosing a town."
For example, when you zoom in on the map, the average rent for the grid in the center, the locations of the three nearest train stations, the walking distance to the station, and the locations of shops necessary for daily life are automatically displayed, allowing you to instantly find the information you want. |

- Revolutionary point of the town guide, No. (3) |
- Background
Until now, the typical property information sites for apartment searches require you to specify area conditions such as stations and train lines, but people who are living in Tokyo for the first time often do not know the information about each area in the first place, making it difficult for them to use property information sites. As a result, they are forced to rely on a few sources of information, such as information from acquaintances, online articles, and real estate companies.
- Technical features
"Machishirube" is a website that helps you find the city you want to live in. You can easily compare city information on the map at the first stage of your apartment search..
For example, average rent prices, distance to train stations, number and locations of convenience stores, public safety conditions, disaster prediction information, etc. are collected for each regional mesh divided into 100m squares. This utilizes our technology, which excels in handling big data, including data on approximately 600 stations and 20,000 km of roads in Tokyo, a huge amount of rent data on 120,000 meshes, data on 12,000 stores, data on 100,000 public safety data, and disaster prediction data published by government agencies.
In terms of operation, we aimed for a design that would allow users to display the necessary data with just one finger, without having to perform complex operations.
This allows you to easily choose the city you want at any time.
In the future, we will continue to develop technology that will enable us to contribute to actual urban development and regional revitalization by utilizing data and know-how while also improving the service based on factors such as the needs of people choosing a city.
*1) In terms of urban development know-how, we utilize PACIFIC CONSULTANTS' knowledge of urban development, such as urban planning, base development, transportation planning, architectural design, green space planning, and disaster prevention measures, as well as technology related to big data processing. The system installed in "Machishirube" uses our patented technology (Patent No. 7393576).
