Release of a Video Introducing Infrastructure Inspection and Survey Technology Using Fixed-Wing UAVs
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Address: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Osamu OMOTO) released a video at Construction Xross (C-Xross) 2023 Kanto introducing its "Spatial Creation Business," which utilizes advanced spatial information technology to provide comprehensive solutions to social issues such as infrastructure management and disaster prevention.
- Introducing the "Spatial Creation Project" that utilizes spatial information obtained from space, the sky, and land
- Space Creation Project: Airport Facility Inspection Using Fixed-Wing UAVs (Japanese version)
- Space Creation Project: Airport Facility Inspection Using Fixed-Wing UAVs (English version)
In collaboration with Fuji Imvac Inc., Ltd. (Address: Isogo Ward, Yokohama City, Yokohama; President and Representative Director: Seiji TANABE) and Ultimatrust Co., Ltd. (Address: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Iwao OZAWA), PCKK have developed infrastructure inspection and survey technology using engine-powered fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (fixed-wing UAVs). In June of this year, we conducted experimental study of the inspection technology using fixed-wing UAVs on the runway (2,500m) of Takamatsu Airport, where PCKK are involved in the airport concession.
In this experimental study, we succeeded in (1) accumulating stable autonomous flight records, (2) streaming video, (3) simultaneous detection of abnormal events using AI technology, and (4) super-resolution imaging of the runway surface. Furthermore, we were able to overcome various issues, large and small, that had been highlighted in the previous three experimental study using runways, etc. As a result, we were able to prove the effectiveness of fixed-wing UAVs and various technologies in infrastructure inspection and patrol, so we have released an introductory video.
Taking advantage of the lifting of the ban on Level 4 flights for unmanned aerial vehicles in December 2022, PACIFIC CONSULTANTS continue to use fixed-wing UAVs in the field to efficiently survey and inspect linear infrastructure such as roads and rivers, as well as for wide-area, rapid initial response in the event of a disaster.
