Report on Participation in the 3rd World BOSAI Forum
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS has had various contacts with International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University in the course of recovery and reconstruction work following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Based on the memorandum of understanding concluded in 2017 regarding "Collaboration and Cooperation in Promoting the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction," the company has continuously collaborated with Tohoku University and has also supported World BOSAI Forum as a corporate supporter.
The 3rd World BOSAI Forum was held in Sendai for three days from Friday, March 10 to Sunday, March 12, 2023, for the first time in four years. Our company continued to host sessions and exhibit at the event.
At the forum, President took to the stage at the opening ceremony, and at the booth, we introduced our technologies and services with the aim of "creating a society that realizes BOSAI, where no one is left behind," in order to promote the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. In addition, a session co-hosted by our company and Tokushima University was held on the theme of "pre-reconstruction," which considers the creation of a recovery town before a large-scale disaster occurs, and "inclusive disaster prevention," which is based on the idea of "leaving no one behind."
We have compiled these efforts and our outlook for international expansion, including disaster prevention, into a promotional video, along with a message President.

What is the World Bosai Forum (WBF)?
The World BOSAI Forum is an international citizens' forum originating from Japan, in collaboration with the World Disaster Risk Reduction Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that brings together disaster prevention stakeholders from industry, government, academia, and the private sector from Japan and overseas. Based on the four priority actions set out in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, (1) understanding disaster risk, (2) strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk, (3) investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience, and (4) improving preparedness for effective disaster response and "Build Back Better" in the recovery and reconstruction process, the Forum aims to penetrate disaster prevention into the policies, societies, and cultures of countries around the world (mainstreaming disaster prevention).
