PCKK Receives Minister of the Environment Award
PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Osamu OMOTO) is pleased to announce that Fuminori TSURUNAGA has been awarded the "Minister of the Environment Award for Achievement in Establishing a Sound Material-Cycle Society 2022".
Reasons for Award
1. For over 30 years, we have contributed to develop technologies related to the construction and to improve landfill sites across the country, particularly in the selecting suitable sites, design, and construction management. In addition, we have contributed to develop technologies for high energy recovery rates to promote energy recovery in incineration facilities, as well as technologies to decarbonize waste, such as renewable energy conversion methods and energy volume technologies for biomass waste.
2. With regard to the decontamination and interim storage facility project in Fukushima Prefecture, we contributed to develop technology to assess the effects of pre-inspection and decontamination, as well as the development of a transportation and delivery system using Electronic Toll Collection System (ETC) in Japan to ensure smoothly transport contaminated soil and other materials to the interim storage facility.
3. In addition to participating in the discussions on disaster waste management conducted by the Ministry of the Environment's "Investigative Commission on Managing Waste from Major Disasters" (chaired by Shinichi Sakai) and local governments in the Kanto and Chubu regions, we contributed to sharing information on waste management in the event of a disaster and formulating "action guidelines and action plans" based on technologies and wide-area policies related to waste management in the event of a large-scale disaster.
The award was given in recognition of the above.
