What is the Job Hunting Review Award?
The "Job Hunting Review Award" is a unique award program run by One Career Inc., a company that operates a job information website for new graduates. The evaluation is based on companies' recruitment activities, but is not conducted by public institutions, the media, or experts. Based on the honest reviews of job hunters, the company selects "companies that really want you to meet."
Among many employment-related reviews, this site is known as a particularly powerful source of information due to its transparency, and it is said to be used by over 60% of job-hunting students. As this is a site used by many job-hunting students, PACIFIC CONSULTANTS is very pleased to have received this award. We can be quite proud of our 23rd place overall ranking out of approximately 48,000 target companies. Of course, we will not rest on our laurels and will continue to aim for a higher ranking.
What is driving the evaluation?
Internships are one of the recruitment activities at PACIFIC CONSULTANTS that are especially highly rated by job-hunting students. Human Resources Dept. is making various efforts to ensure that internships at our company are fruitful for job-hunting students who are choosing a company for the first time.
One of these is to allow students to select in detail the work field and category they want to experience. Recently, there has been a trend for job hunting students to go into job hunting with a concrete image of what they want to do. Therefore, to prevent students from feeling like "that's not what I wanted to know," we have made it possible for students to select up to 46 work fields and 8 locations (regional headquarters, regional branches, and technology research centers) both in Japan and overseas at the application form stage.
In addition, the accepting department customizes the content of the internship based on the submitted application form, understanding what each student wants to learn and what issues they are concerned about. Many students who have actually participated in internships have commented that "they taught me thoroughly and patiently until I understood."
We also try to create schedules that fit each individual's schedule so that they can prioritize attending classes and lab activities. Furthermore, during the internship period, we also arrange for employee information sessions in other fields of interest to provide interns with more in-depth learning opportunities.
We also started offering one-day work experience last year. Previously, we only offered one- to two-week internships, but we had a lot of applicants and it became difficult for the company to accept them, and many job-hunters just couldn't fit their schedules in. So we planned a one-day work experience that would take a full day from morning to evening, and would not only explain the company, but also provide an interactive program that included group work and roundtable discussions to help students get an idea of what it would be like to work at our company.
Many of them express sympathy for the company atmosphere
The recruitment process at PACIFIC CONSULTANTS begins with the submission of an application form and course transcript, followed by document screening, a first exam (aptitude test and essay), a second exam (first interview), a final exam (executive interview), a tentative offer, and then a full offer. People are at the heart of a consultant's work. We believe it is important for people to get to know each other well, so as a rule, interviews are conducted face-to-face, starting from the first interview. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to hold face-to-face interviews while taking thorough measures to prevent infection.
In addition, the employees who conduct the interviews try to create an atmosphere where the interviewees feel comfortable speaking, drawing out their true feelings and allowing them to be their normal selves. In fact, we received many reviews after the interviews, such as "They helped me ease my tension and made it easy to talk" and "They were able to get a lot of information out of me."
Our company atmosphere is based on freedom and flat human relationships and has a friendly atmosphere. I think this naturally comes across in the interviewers. Everyone gets nervous when it comes to the final executive interview, but we make sure that they can be as natural as possible by gathering 15 minutes before the interview to chat with members of Human Resources Dept. and relax by checking their appearance.
After a job offer, we prepare opportunities for them to make friends and to receive advance training
Every year, many new employees join our company. We believe that connections with fellow recruits are very important, so from around spring, when tentative job offers begin to be made, we set up a website exclusively for accepted recruits, where they can see each other's profiles and find out what kind of people are in their batch at the same time. The job offer ceremony in October will be held in the Tokyo HQ, so accepted recruits will gather from all over the country. We are making efforts to ensure that accepted recruits do not meet for the first time on the day of the ceremony, such as by holding multiple online social gatherings in advance through the website exclusively for accepted recruits. For accepted recruits, this will be an opportunity to meet in person with colleagues they have already spoken to online, so we believe this will lead to better communication.
In addition, the department to which the new recruits will be assigned also seems to be holding social gatherings for them. Also, before joining the company in April, e-learning opportunities are provided on business etiquette, basic business knowledge, work methods, and ways of thinking, making the training for new employees after joining the company more practical.
The new employees' training will continue until the third week of April, and the last part of the training will be fieldwork away from the company. This is a team-building activity that is very popular every year. The strong bonds that are created here seem to be the foundation for the new employees to support each other as a group, even though they are in different department.
Understanding each other and recruiting for the future
Job hunting activity as a new graduate is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We hope you will treasure this opportunity and carefully choose your company. As Human Resources Dept., we will continue to work on internships so that interns can gain a solid understanding of the company. We will work together with employees in each field to provide opportunities that make interns think, "I'm glad I found out about this kind of company," and "I want to be a part of this company."
If you participate in an internship or talk to alumni, you will understand what kind of company we are and what we aim to achieve. I would be happy to listen to the stories of senior employees who work with proud in a flat and free atmosphere, and think together with them about what I can do at this company.
In a survey asking new employees why they joined the company, the top three answers for the past few years have been "I think I can do what I want to do," "The company atmosphere is good," and "I was satisfied with the treatment, including the benefits." I think our efforts are starting to be conveyed, even if it may be little by little.

PACIFIC CONSULTANTS is a company that does not force people into a mold, but rather aims to bring out the best in each person and use that to strengthen the organization. We want people to be themselves and work enthusiastically, and we want to create that environment from the recruitment stage onwards.
