Experimental Scene
In order to establish reforestation techniques for creating healthy forests, we are conducting demonstration tests of planting techniques using the nursery block method developed by former Shinshu University professor Yoshinari Yamadera.
In fiscal year 2019, nursery block seedlings (40 Zelkova and 40 Sawtooth Oak) were planted in an outdoor test site, and in addition to the normal growth of the roots, the cutting of the taproot and the growth of the roots under various conditions (mixed with gravel, buried under a board, etc.) were monitored. Approximately four months after planting, it was confirmed that the taproot had expanded from a depth of approximately 20cm to 60cm, and from approximately 10cm to 50cm horizontally.
